Monta Ellis' Agent
Monta Ellis
Reporters
Agent- My client is now answering questions about his future in basketball. He will also be announcing where he will be playing, as in the NBA or the PHL. And without further wait, here is the man you have been waiting for, Mr. Monta Ellis.
Monta Ellis- Alright guys, thanks for coming out here today. First off, I would like to think my agent, for guiding me through my decision. I would also like to thank both David Stern and AND1. They are both great commishioners and I wish I could play for both of them. But, I had to chose to play in only one's league. Thank you David, but I had to choose AND1's league. He is a great person and the future of his league looks great. David Stern recently changed the rule for high school prospects entering the draft, so I would have to go to college for a year. I needed money immediatly to pay my moms rent, or else she would be homeless, so I decided to officially declare for the PHL Draft. I will be competing in the 1st ever draftee league and I will be drafted when the draft rolls around, at least I hope.
Agent- He will now be taking questions regarding anything to do with basketball. Monta reserves the right to refuse answering any questions if he finds it is not appropriate, or if it is off topic. Fire away.
Reporter- What kind of player will you bring to the PHL?
ME- I am an intense, passionate player. I play with my heart not my mind. I am a defensive hawk, and I think defense is the most important asset to a team. I have good size so I can play a variety of positions.
Reporter- Which NBA player would you compare yourself to?
ME- I think that I play like Shawn Marion with a prettier shot. (Chuckles) Just kidding, Shawn knows I am messin' with him. But I really admire the way Shawn plays defense and I hope I can prove to be a defensive star in a league that is full of offensive powerhouses.
Reporter- Do you have a favorite PHL team? If so, why?
ME- Jordan, just because I wear their kicks. But I am also a big Reebok guy. Reebok has always been one of my favorite shoe companies for some reason. But that is all I know about these teams. I am going to do some research on these teams later but right now I am judging them on how good they make shoes.
Reporter- Do you know any players in the league right now?
ME- I know Lebron King Gonzalez. I have played with him before and he is a major reason why I chose to join this league. Maybe I can team up with him someday. We would make a pretty good post-perimeter defensive combo I think.
Reporter- Do you think you can make an immediate impact in this league?
ME- I hope so. I think my offense will need to adjust but I should have a smooth transition into the defensive end. I am a highflyer on the offensive end, so getting by and dunking over bigger and better defenders is going to be tough. I think on defense I am fast enough and have enough lateral quickness to keep up with most of these guys out here.
Agent- Last question fellas, we have an airplane to catch to talk sponsorships.
Reporter- Many people are confused about which position you play. You are 6-9, you can handle the ball, and you have a great shot. What position do you consider yourself?
ME- I am a shooting guard, without question. Sure, I am 6-9, but I love handling the ball, but not too much. I like being able to catch and shoot rather than creating for myself at the point. I don't consider myself a forward because I don't like playing in the post. I don't have a polished post game. Although, I will post up the smaller guard to take advantage of the mismatch.
Agent- Alright guys, thanks for coming out. Look for Monta in the D-League this year and playing for a real team next season!
