D-What taking care of business in the Summer Leagues!
[glow=red,2,300]Full Name: Monty Donald Allen
Nickname: D-What
Age: 17
Height: 6'11"
Weight: 250 lbs.
High School: Live Oak High School[/glow]
Comparisons
Scoring: Inside Dominant, Tim Duncan-esque.
Handles: Weak but not horrid for a big man, like David West.
Defense: Inside and only inside, Shaquille O'Neal for real.
Rebounding: Almost the best there is, Shawn Marion.
Strengths: Well, honestly, we saw the first game of his career already and he looks good. He put up 31 points and pulled down 13 boards. It appears he may be one of the best rebounders in the league but was placed at the Shooting Guard position at the last minute. "Rumor Has It" appears to be saying that he either wants to get in that PF or C position or get out of the Nike organization. His main strengths are apparently scoring and rebounding. We though he would block a lot of shots but with only 2 blocks in the first game, we are wondering what is wrong. Scouts say his defense may have been a bit overrated! He is however very athletic and strong with a good pressence around the rim on both sides of the ball.
Weaknesses: Well, he is not the fastest player in the league and his handles are pretty weak. Although, in the first game of his career after being signed by Nike, he had no turnovers. He has absolutely no range on offense and can not step outside and guard on defense. Which is odd because he played shooting guard this week and held his opposer to 10 points on 4 of 10 shooting. In the past, we have seen a weakness in his range on both end of the floor and an inability to get up and down the floor. Neither were apparent last week though.
Attitude: He is a good a kid as they come. He respects everyone, answers every media question that is asked of him, and signs autographs for fans as long as they are still there. Rumors say he spent a couple hours after everygame in high school just signing autographs. He was a 4.0 student in school and his class president. He is a natural born leader with determination to improve like no other. There is nothing to hate and all to love about this young man. Only problem is he wants to play around the basket. If he is not, he is not the happiest person. Most big men want to get outside and shoot. He is content banging down low on both ends!
Outlook: A late arrival in the league has people wondering where he has been. Rumors say he did not want to enter the draft because he did not fill ready. He said he has more free time and in his interview with the newest show "Rumor Has It" (which airs tomorrow) he talks about how he loves playing for Nike but is determined to play in the post and will play for another brand if that is what it takes.
