Detroit (AP) A certain small forward on team AND1 has been doing 2 things he loves. Smash Freeman has just signed a 40,000 deal with cartoon network to showcase his creation the Boondocks.
The cartoon consists of 3 main characters
Huey (left) Grandpa Freeman (middle) and Riley (right).
The cartoon sets the Grandfather to take care of his two grandson's after they inherited a large sum of money from their parents. The cartoon has already aired 2 episodes one introducing all the main characters, and the other confidential episode that almost got the cartoon cancelled when civil rights leader Dr. Martin King Jr. used the n word repeatbly.
Before it was a cartoon it was a comic strip posted in mainly every major newspaper in America.It actually started in The Detroit Free Press after Freeman walked all the way down to the Newspaper publisher to get a chance after their was an opening in the paper for a cartoon spot. The cartoon was actually originally created by Freeman to basically vent his fustrations to anybody he could.
He named all the characters after people he knew in his life and named the three main characters last name after his Freeman of course.Although Freeman doesnt own the copyright to the comic strip anymore he owns the copyright to the cartoon.
