Los Angeles- A key player for the Converse team means having inside shooting ability, power, and rebounding.
Spyder a key element to the Converse team has all of those qualities and many more. He is an agile player who can get down the court quickly; his ability to jump is the key to his game given that the team has a lot of inside game but needs some people who can rebound.
“I maybe smaller than most centers, but the fact is; I am willing to put my body out there and grab the ball.” Spyder said.
At 6ft. 10 inches, Spyder is big for a small forward, but he does not seem big enough to take on a 7ft to 7ft. 6inch center. However, in college he was unable to even get up over a power forward.
After a long talk with head coach Rick Barnes about where he was going Spyder started to work on his jumping and his rebounding skills.
“He is a very versatile player.” assistant coach Ken McDonald said, “He just needed to work on getting up over bigger guys and boxing out guys his size.”
Spyder is a great addition to any team in the PHL he has some great leadership skills and can help lead any team to the finals and possibly a championship. He hopes to bring both the ability to rebound and shoot to the Converse.
With large inside, players like POWERHOUSE and Chocolate Chip the paint will be dominated by the Converse leaving many lanes for Spyder to use his speed and handles to put up some quick points.
“This team will be a dominant force in the paint, we just need to work on some out side game and we can become a better world class team than we are now.” Spyder said.
The speed and power of all the players on Converse make it a contender for the first PHL championship title.
